Why would he be successful at Purdue?
Vigen is all about offense. He runs unique Bobcat RPO offense that is really the best offense in FCS by every metric. His players have a winning mentality, ready to prove themselves, and presumably many would jump at the chance to leap to the Big Ten to do just that. Can a coach with an innovative offense from the American West succeed at Purdue? Only one way to cowboy up and find out, I guess.
Why could he flop at Purdue?
He only has four years as a head coach, and hasn’t won titles like Kleiman had. Could be eventually ready, but it might be early.
Would he come to Purdue?
Hard to imagine he wouldn’t. A jump to the truly big time in one of the premiere conferences in the country would be hard for anyone to turn down. He also currently makes $214k.
