The NCAA has devised a completely arbitrary way to stop players from setting up for charges deep in the lane. It's called the three-feet rule...and it's going to be great!!
Many in the NCAA don't like the half circle below the basket in the NBA and wanted to stay away from such a rule. So, they've created a three-foot (radius) circle underneath the basket in which you can't set up for a charge. Ummm, OK.
But the good news is, it's completely subjective and awesome Big Ten officials will be able to call it as they see fit, without any pesky "concrete guidelines" to hamper their artistry.
Thanks NCAA for continuing to stink.
