NCAA Viewing Guide, Day One Round One

Let's take a quick look at what's on tap this afternoon and evening. The NCAA tournament is for reals, so there won't be any drinking games today. You'll have to create your own. You're all creative folks, so I don't think that will be a problem. To the schedule!

#10 Ohio State (23-10, kenpom 22) vs. #7 VCU (26-9, kenpom 29), right now on TNT

Tough break for VCU, drawing an Ohio State team that played for most of the season like they'd have a solid tournament seed. If they play like they did the last couple of weeks, it won't have been such a tough draw. (Right now, it seems more like the latter.) Both teams like to run, and both teams struggle at the line, so this could be a really interesting finish ... but not in a good way.

#9 Purdue (21-12, kenpom 52) vs. #8 Cincinnati (22-10, kenpom 36), 7:10 on CBS

As covered here and here. One factor that may play into Purdue's hands is that Cincinnati likes to play a slow game at both ends of the court - if the Good Guys can hit from outside, they'll never be out of it.

I trust you've been watching the games so far. I hope you didn't have a 3-seed going too far.
