Purdue Beats UIndy and It Doesn't Count

Purdue played an exhibition game last night versus a plucky University of Indianapolis team and won 86-74…but they started the game in horrific manner as they were down 0-8 just moments into the just-for-fun contest. Our European friends might call this one a ‘friendly’.

After a slow start, Zach Edey led all Boilers with 20 points and played with a little needed meanness (at that point, he wasn’t feeling very friendly). Furst, Ivey, Newman, Thompson, Williams and others played well on offense, but other than a few blocks by Edey and one by Newman, there wasn’t a whole bunch of defensive punch. Here are my thoughts on the first look at this loaded, deep Purdue squad:
