Road Dog Boilers Quiet the Huskers in Lincoln

Scott Frost’s Huskers had three wins with four games yet to be played, coming into this afternoon’s contest in Lincoln, Nebraska…and when Jeff Brohm’s Boilers left town, they still had just three wins. Memorial Stadium had over 85,000 people in it to begin the afternoon, but by the fourth quarter, it was the quietest place in the state of Nebraska. The Brohm Squad had silenced the Husker faithful, yet again, perhaps for the last time, with Frosty at the helm.

Our Boilers improved to 5-3 on the shoulders of Jalen Graham’s pick-6 and three other interceptions. Martinez struggled passing the ball (which he is known to do), once the Boilers got a lead in the third quarter, and Purdue simply was better than Nebraska, especially in the second half.

Purdue now has four remaining games (MSU, @ aOSU, NW in Wrigley Field and the Bucket in God’s Country) and needs just one win to become bowl eligible. Brohm’s squad is in great position to earn their third bowl bid in five years, if they can handle their bidness in this final stretch of games.

Aidan O’Connell completed an eye-popping 75% of his passes along with two tuddies and no picks. David Bell led Purdue with 74 yards receiving, but no touchdowns. King Doerue also had 74 yards, but on the ground (also had no TDs). Milton Wright and Jackson Anthrop (#AlwaysTrustanAnthrop) both scored…and Zander Horvath, yes, THAT Zander Horvath returned to have a tough-running touchdown in his first action in six weeks.
