The BS All-Time Boilermakers Tourney Is Here to Entertain You
Here at Boiled Sports, we’re living in isolation, too, and we’re not talking about the normal kind we live in because we make people mad and they stop being friends with us. We’re also not talking about the isolation that comes from setting up a fake mouse and tying it to a doorknob with fishing line so when your wife opens the door the mouse charges at her. No, we’re talking about isolation as we work our way as a nation – and a world – through the dangers of COVID-19.
On a serious note, it can be difficult to absorb the news that continues to flood television, the internet, twitter, and our conversations. And sometimes – most times – it can be very therapeutic to step away for moment. Sure, you could go for a walk outside or play with your kids, but we all know we’d rather argue about something else that might make our friends and spouses want to back away from us – all-time Boilermakers.
Boiled Sports proudly presents a bracket to determine among BS readership who the all-time Boilers are. Sure, we know statistically who is great and who is beloved by fans. But if you begin seeding and pitting them against one another, who comes out on top? Similar to the real NCAA Tournament, it’s not always going to seem fair. Some matchups and seeds might seem questionable. And similar to the way the committee handles it, you may never know what we were thinking.
But know this – the majority of the players in this field are there because they were skilled Purdue basketball players who had notable accomplishments, often including all-America, all-conference, etc. The guys in the 15/16 seeds were really just included for conversation’s sake, given that they all had some significant loved/hated relationship with Purdue fans. (Come on, you know you loved Scott Martin vs Ronnie Johnson.)
The committee was largely made up of just two brains – Boilerdowd and his son, long-known as Little Boilerdowd (or LBD) but who will presumably hand that moniker to his father soon. The rest of BS weighed in on a few things in small ways, so what I’m saying is if you loved this, it was a team effort…if you hate it, form a line to the left and Boilerdowd will address you one at a time.
For those of you who avoid Twitter or just missed it, a selection show was broadcast recently where the top seeds were announced.
The play-in games got started Sunday and we’re well into Round 1 now. Head to twitter to vote.
