Matt Laughs Last in Ass. Hall (QuickCast)
Boogie Edwards played his worst game in a Purdue uniform. Purdue couldn’t rebound and shot the ball even worse as officials did what officials do in Ass. Hall…and yet, Purdue left Bloomington with its 19th victory of the season, and retained its share of the B1G conference lead. It was horrendous basketball. But, a win is a win.
Cline scored 11 points after going scoreless in the first half. Edwards shot poorly (0-10 from deep, 4-24 FGs), but nearly led the team in rebounding with seven boards. Fellow guard, Jelly Eastern grabbed nine important rebounds to go along with eight points…but even some of his defensive magic wasn’t there. A few ill-advised fouls nearly cost the Forces of Good the game.
Haarms didn’t play anywhere near his best game. He scored just six points, but had three blocks…but he was the focal point of Ass. Hall’s ire all night. When he tipped Edwards’ miss in, Purdue took the final lead of the game (48-46), with just 3.2 seconds left. Once the clock hit 0:00, Haarms showed his built-up frustration while standing on the IU logo at center court.
After the game, Haarms took the high road, as Paint took an even higher one. When asked about the chants IU fans were hurling, Painter responded that he didn’t know what the media was talking about.
IU fans did what they do last night. Purdue did what they do versus IU: Win. It’s now been over 1000 days since Purdue’s basketball team lost to IU.
Here are a few quick thoughts.
