Jacquil Taylor To Look For Playing Time Elsewhere
Continuing a lousy day of Purdue basketball-related news, Jacquil Taylor announced his intent to transfer from Purdue today. He is on schedule to graduate in May and so as a result, he'll be able to play somewhere else immediately.
Jacquil came to Purdue with the beloved senior class that just finished up and both fought for playing time and fought with consistent, nagging injuries.
JT has been a favorite here at BS. It's hard not to root for a guy who struggles to get on the floor for a variety of reasons yet never seems to be down and is often one of the first guys off the bench to congratulate teammates on a great play.
Whenever I attended a game, I would always notice that Taylor was constantly getting loose even though he rarely saw the floor. Almost like he wanted everyone to know that he was ready whenever he might wind up being needed. That finally happened once Isaac Haas got hurt during this year's tournament.
We were also in attendance during JT's best game at Purdue, a 50-point drubbing of Rutgers during his sophomore year. Taylor played 14 minutes and managed a double-double, scoring 12 points on 4/6 shooting, including 2/3 from three and 2/2 from the line. He also grabbed ten boards and added an assist and a block for good measure. Oh, what might have been.
We wish Jacquil the best.
