Boilermericas Too Much for Norway, 81-49

Your Team USA Purdue Boilermakers made quick work of the guard-heavy and presumably taking-a-break-from-hockey Norwegians today, winning by a smooth 32 in the World University Games. Typical of Purdue basketball, though, it was a tough game to figure.

The Boilermakers came out of the chute hot, leading 25-4 after one quarter. But Norway stormed back and it was just a 34-27 lead at the half. But then, of course, if you can do math you know that Team USA went on a 47-22 run the rest of the way. But even that was a bit wonky, with a 39-13 third quarter and then Norway actually took the fourth, 9-8. I'm assuming this had more to do with sitting guys down but who knows.

Most interestingly to me was the stat lines for Vincent Edwards and Ike Haas.

Edwards (Aneesh, you may want to sit down) went 8/9 from the floor, including 4/4 from three and 1/1 from the line for a game-high 21 points in just 21 tidy minutes. Haas was 100% from everywhere, going 7/7 from the field and 2/2 from the line. Yeah, that's pretty good.

Exhibition time is over now, though, as Team USA will open pool play on Sunday against Argentina at 5:30 AM ET.

Most games will be available via stream and CBS Sports Network will be airing the games roughly 30 hours after they occur (meaning you can see the Sunday 5:30 AM game on Monday at 1 PM -- don't ask too many questions).

Details on streaming options as well as CBS Sports Network's coverage schedule are available here.
