Boilers Rain 'Dutch Thunder' Down on Carroll College

With a minute left in the first half, Purdue was only up by seven points on Dr. Carson Cunningham's (yes, THAT Dr. Cunningham) Saints. Much like the Indiana State game, Purdue allowed an exhibition opponent to hang around. They weren't playing inspired, they were turning the ball over a ton, and weren't taking advantage of their notable size and talent advantages.

Vincent scored 20...most of them in the first ten minutes of the second half. Boogie added 18. I don't think either shot the ball well (but haven't seen a box score yet). The Midwest Cowboy didn't shoot well at all, but had eight assists and a bunch of steals.

Purdue ended up winning 98-71...but in their words, was simply trying to do too much passing in the first half.

Matt Haarms scored eight points, added three blocks...was called Dutch Thunder by the kids doing play-by-play. Not sure if that'll stick...but I kinda love it.

The game was getting out of hand around the mid point of the second half, but turned into a dunk fest with seven minutes left, as Eastern finished with great anger and ferocity on a two-handed yam that'll be on the Twitter tonight, I bet.

Haas didn't have a natural match-up, so he had a bit of a field day around the rim; didn't have to play much.

My pal Neesh might give some more detail about this contest after he watches it on tape delay...but as Cliz kept saying during the radio broadcast, "This one doesn't even count."

Purdue improves to 0-0.

Next up, a top-secret, behind closed doors scrimmage versus Huggy Bear and his Mountaineers.
