Sometimes It's Not Just The Little Things

Sometimes It's Not Just The Little Things

JPC-2014-calendar-note(1).jpg

There are times when I feel like it's important to take a look at things from the perspective of someone like Morgan Burke, to look at issues like Painter's contract extension and Hazell's hiring and the lack of AC in Holloway, because even though some people might see a pattern in his overall approach that maybe isn't what we'd want to see from our athletic director, there might also be perfectly good reasons why he makes some of the decision he does.

And then I see something like this:

This is the letter* that comes with the annual calendar that's sent out to all John Purdue Club members, along with the standard blahblahblah that the NCAA peddles and the specifics that apply to the program we support. I got that and the calendar in the mail yesterday. February 10.

Now, there's probably a perfectly reasonable explanation for this. It could easily be just my calendar that was delayed. The post office could have held onto it for some reason. People make mistakes all the time, and I'd rather have it be with my free calendar than with my season tickets.

But something like this also makes it harder for me to support the athletic department publicly, especially on this site, when I have evidence in my very hands that suggests that they might not even take time to get the little things right. (It is perhaps not a coincidence that the letter was signed by the very same person who charged JPC members with not coughing up enough money for both the Mackey project and Painter's original salary, a charge that was promptly retracted when the members to whom she was speaking said "wtf?")

*I clipped the top of it, the part with the JPC logo, etc., because it has my name and return address. Frankly, I get far too much attention as it is. I nearly had to call the cops to get bdowd to stop hounding me for his two dollars.
